The origin of the name Shiseido

Arinobu Fukuhara was working as chief pharmacist in a naval hospital at the meager age of 23 years old when he and his colleagues, also in their early 20’s, founded the first Western-style pharmacy in Japan.

Their motivation came from displeasure with medicine available on the market at the time, while their inspiration was “to take everything and anything good in this world and use it to create new things”.

The name “Shiseido” was chosen by the young pharmacist, with the words taken from a passage in I Ching meaning, Do (堂): “house of”, Shi Sei (資生): “where everything is born.” The whole passage reads “Praise the virtues of the earth, that is where anything and everything is born from”. I was so delighted to attend the presntation launch party for Shiseido Spring/Summer 19 last week in The Royal Hibernian Academy.

The Friends Room was decorated like we had just walked into Tokyo and we were sureounded by the latest make up and skin care innovations and collections.

Here are some pics I took on the night.

INNOVATION: SHISEIDO invented a weightless, Triple Gel Technology featuring a revolutionary combo of agar, clay, and copolymer gels that allow high levels of pigment to converge with water for a cushion-y, comfortable feel that stays put for hours. “It’s a whole new way of looking at lipstick,” explains GailBoyé,

The result: vivid, high-coverage pigment. To keep this revolutionary lipstick as fresh as possible, the tube comes sealed in an air- tight silver wrapper to preserve its longevity and integrity.

BEAUTY MADE WITH SOUL: Designers and developers looked to theSHISEIDO archives when devising this this slender bullet that provides the ultimate level of precision straight from the tube. They were inspired by Inouï, a sleek collection created for the Japanese “career woman” in 1977.

COLOUR INSPIRATION: The shade names in the VisionAiry Gel Lipstick range are based on the bustling urban metropolis that is modern Tokyo.

PIPPA O’CONNOR TO HOST ARNOTTS SHOE GALLERY EVENT THIS SEPTEMBER

Arnotts will welcome top influencer Pippa O’Connor to the newly opened Arnotts Shoe Gallery this September to host a stylish shoe and fashion workshop and show for customers.

To celebrate the recent opening of the new Shoe Gallery, Ireland’s largest women’s footwear department, Arnotts has teamed up with Pippa to host a styling segment on Saturday, 2nd September 2017 at 12pm.

Speaking about the event, Pippa said: “I’m delighted to be hosting a shoe and fashion styling segment in the newly opened Shoe Gallery on First Level in Arnotts! Everyone knows I have a weakness for shoes so I’ll be spoilt for choice in the biggest shoe department in Ireland! And now that it’s right beside the womenswear department, I don’t have too far to go to pair up my shoes with the new AW17 collections!”

The styling segment will take place in the Shoe Gallery on First Level where Pippa will be showcasing her “must have” shoes for the AW season, and styling them using pieces from her favourite brands from the AW17 womenswear collections in her own, signature Pippa style. Kiehl’s apothecary preparations review

Here it is! The big review of a special product with big promises.

I was hoping for a miracle in a bottle to minimise my pores and smooth out my wrinkles.

After using this product every night religiously for the last 4 weeks I have come to my verdict.

My skin feels softer and make up application is smoother. My open pores on my cheeks do seem less noticeable but not totally cured. My wrinkles(Furrows) haven’t diminished but my skin does seem somewhat healthier.

I did also up my water intake to help the process and this did help hydrate my skin.

Overall, it’s a beautiful product to have and to use.

Would I recommend it?

Yes! Yes,I would.

Why?

Because it’s a luxury everyone should witness and because of it’s pharmaceutical background and appearance along with the effect it has on your skin, it definitely does improve your skins texture and appearance although it doesn’t work miracles.

I guess I’ll have to just keep saving for Botox and fillers and I’ll continue using my Kiehl’s apothecary preparation until a miracle in a bottle comes my way in the endless search for youth.

Today I received my very own personalised skin care miracle in the post. The beautiful people from Kiehl’s asked me what my two skin concerns were.

Always focused on the needs of even its most sensitive skincare customers, Kiehl’s chemists utilized precise concentrations of the ingredient to retain its exfoliation benefits, while remaining tolerable and appropriate for sensitive skin types.

“We intentionally used a lower level of Glycolic Acid in our formula to help soften surface skin rather than to aggressively peel it.
