A few months ago I was hired to do a photo shoot for a book cover little did I know that it was for Trisha Lewis instagram sensation with over 100 thousand followers.

Trisha was unbelievably energetic, enthusiastic and her laugh is infectious. Her friend Dan Sweeney was with her in the studio too and the laughs we had that day with photographer Marc O’Sullivan when he was getting Trisha to do all sorts of high kicks, jumping jacks and hold tea cups and fruit to get the perfect shot.

The book is essentially Trisha’s weightloss and life changing story along with recipes as Trisha is a chef in Cork restaurant Jacob’s on The Mall. The book is filled with emotion of a woman on a massive journey and her followers on Instagram are her “Transformers” whom she inspires to “Beat The Bulge”.

The look and brief was for natural make up and with Trisha’s guidance we built it up to “Cork Natural” which envolved more of everything.

I’m delighted to be part of the number one best seller book and love how the book has been recieved.

I have looked at Phibrows for a long time, thinking this could be the answer to my prayers as I have very few eyebrow hairs left after manic plucking sessions in the 90’s!

I had saved up to have the procedure done last year but my little car Lola needed work so my eyebrow money was spent on that.

Recently I won a competition to have Phibrows done with Phi Master Kim O’Sullivan and I was so happy I actually cried.

So, on Wednesday this week I had my appointment and it’s safe to say I was nervous and excited at the prospect of having proper brows again.

As you can see by my before photo, I had very few eyebrow hairs!!!

Kim went through the formalities and forms, measurements and shapes to suit my bone structure etc. and the procedure began with numbing cream and the first cuts ( Scraping, weird sensation) It was uncomfortable but I kept thinking of the end result, BROWS!

Anyway, I could go on and on but I’ll keep it brief!

The origin of the name Shiseido

Arinobu Fukuhara was working as chief pharmacist in a naval hospital at the meager age of 23 years old when he and his colleagues, also in their early 20’s, founded the first Western-style pharmacy in Japan.

Their motivation came from displeasure with medicine available on the market at the time, while their inspiration was “to take everything and anything good in this world and use it to create new things”.

The name “Shiseido” was chosen by the young pharmacist, with the words taken from a passage in I Ching meaning, Do (堂): “house of”, Shi Sei (資生): “where everything is born.” The whole passage reads “Praise the virtues of the earth, that is where anything and everything is born from”. I was so delighted to attend the presntation launch party for Shiseido Spring/Summer 19 last week in The Royal Hibernian Academy.

The Friends Room was decorated like we had just walked into Tokyo and we were sureounded by the latest make up and skin care innovations and collections.

Here are some pics I took on the night.

INNOVATION: SHISEIDO invented a weightless, Triple Gel Technology featuring a revolutionary combo of agar, clay, and copolymer gels that allow high levels of pigment to converge with water for a cushion-y, comfortable feel that stays put for hours. “It’s a whole new way of looking at lipstick,” explains GailBoyé,

Pantone, the colour mixing company have announced the colour for the year 2019 as “Living Coral”

Personally I always have Coral/Peachy tones in my kit to warm up cooler complexions, even the dullest of skins can benefit from a warm hue of the wonder that is coral!

I attended breakfast with Stila at Harvey Nichols in Cookes restaurant in Dundrum Town centre to preview their Christmas range.

So here’s to 2019 whatever it may bring.

I’m so sorry I wasn’t active much of last year but LIFE just took over body,mind and soul.

There were family dramas and some losses and blogging became too hard, writing in a happy tone became impossible.

I tried to concentrate more on my instagram as pictures do the talking and I just had to caption them with hashtags, much easier.

We lost our beloved Luna, our black beauty cat, she caught a nasty virus and couldn’t fight it. We were there with her right up to her last breath and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Myself and my daughter were devastated, she was part of our family for seven years and we miss her everyday.

We also said goodbye to little Cami our Syrian hamster, we didn’t have her very long, she fell off the sofa and passed away very quickly. Another sad day.

My daughter changed schools which was a massive adjustment in both our lives, but the best decision, I only wish we’d done it sooner. Walking away from negativity and bullies felt so refreshing and empowering.

We adopted two little kittens in August Poppy and Lilly and they are the cutest little furry babies. They have certainly woken our house up, they are crazy and very funny!

Anyway that’s just a brief summary for 2018, I could go on but I’d fear I’d bore you all.

My next blog will also be up today.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of working with Flique Cosmetics a brand you’ll be familiar with if you’re a Gordie Shore fan as Charlotte Crosby is the face of the brand.

Mc Cabes Pharmacy in Tallaght opened it’s new store at the Lidl complex in Tallaght village and I was in store to promote the Flique range and talk through the products with customers. The staff are so friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful to the customers. The highlight and contour palettes are most popular and the liquid lipsticks and lashes are a must have for any make up lover. The eyeshadow palettes are so good, lovely range of colours which would suit most skin types.

It was so lovely being back in my hood, it’s been years since I’ve lived there and a lot has changed.

The range consists of two brush sets, beauty blending sponges, two eyeshadow palettes, a contour palette a highlighting palette, false lashes, liquid lipsticks and just launched lip kits.

So…. Christmas is over and I finally took our Christmas decorations down today!

With a lot of huffing and puffing, lifting and lugging, getting the cases down from the attic it’s all nicely packed away. Will brave the attic tomorrow and force the cases back up there! I can do it, with brute force that is.

Now the house looks so bare, and I’m on the hunt to find something to fill the spot where the tree was🤣 first world problems I know.

Anyway I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and got to relax and maybe you were lucky like me and you got to spend it with some family around.

Yesterday morning I was privileged to attend the Penneys preview of their Spring Summer range and it’s fab! 


It was held in Penneys Head Office in Dublin and the place was jam packed with press. I managed to take a few pics.



















The collections are all well made and there’s a collection for everyone whether your into striped nautical, floral, denim, faux fur,faux suede or pleather. 

I snapped the collections and the feedback was people loved the Rugrats tee shirt, nod to the 90’s, sliders are staying and the cut off denim shorts. 

I’m always happy to see Spring Summer clothes just right when I’m sorting through my winter wardrobe so I see an end in sight and don’t get depressed by the dark mornings and driving home in the dark. 

So if you like what you see don’t forget to make a note of the items so you don’t forget them.

Taking inspiration from the sandy stretches to the streets of the city, Primark’s SS18 menswear collection is all about keeping it fresh. Our three distinct trends create the perfect mix for spring, taking you on a colour journey from the muted shades of Meadow Lab through to the deeper tones of End of the Road, with classic pops of colour being ever-present in Dog Town. Lidl Ireland have a pop up shop on Grafton street where customers can pop in and try on the clothes and see the stock before the 1st range from Heidi Klum goes on sale @8am on Monday Morning. 

I popped in today after a launch I attended and was amazed by the range and quality. 


I know leopard print isn’t for everyone but I’ve always been partial to a bit of Leopard print and so I was pleasantly surprised. 


I have my eye on the black biker jacket €69.95 and I tried it on in size 14 the only size they had there but I’ll be getting it in a size 10 as the assistant in the store advised shoppers to go up a size. 

The brown suede €69.95 one is gorgeous too but I’ve learnt from past experience that I never wear it, black is just me. 

The range has tops from €12 trousers,jackets from €19.95 jumpsuits,hoodies,jeans,fine knit tops. It’s going to sell out as there is something for every woman, school run clothes,work wear right through to Christmassy sequinned jackets and leopard print trousers. 


The jeans again come up small so if you’re usually a 12 go for a 14. 


My advice is buy and keep your receipt and you can get a refund if they don’t fit when you’ve tried them on in the comfort of your own home.

My Latest Penneys finds

Firstly as the weather becomes more winter day by day I just couldn’t resist getting matching onesies for my daughter and I. We love cosy nights watching movies and chilling around the house in the evenings wearing our Pj’s so these onesies were just perfect. I saw JustJordan wearing hers on Snapchat and as blue is my daughters favourite colour along with the love heart design, I couldn’t resist. 

They are only €10 in Penneys but I did find the sizing a bit small so we both got the size medium(my daughter is only 11yrs old).

We both slept like logs and woke up not wanting to take them off, so cosy and comfy.


Next up I spotted stationary that resembles Kate Spade!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes. Penneys have really upped their game yet again and I love the stapler €8 and tape dispenser €5. Their Perspex and rose gold are so gorgeous and would make any desk look glam! 


And last but not least my mermaid travel mug and highlighters €3.50! Any magpie or sparkle queen will love these as stocking fillers!

The endless search for the perfect mascara wand continues and Flormar have come up with this invention where you twist the lid of the mascara to change the brush shape and add length, volume and curl to your lashes. 


Everyone has a favourite wand they prefer to make their lashes pop and flutter. I personally like a wand with volume and a tapered end to catch the smaller lashes at the inner corners of the eye. I haven’t really warmed to the plastic type wands as they don’t seem to coat all of my lashes and as I don’t tend to wear false lashes I really want what I do have to look thicker and not necessarily longer. I prefer volume over length. 


So, I gave this mascara a whirl and I’m not a convert. It has a plastic wand where as I prefer the bristles. I only wish they had brought this out with more of a brush like wand, it would probably be my favourite then. The idea behind the twisting mechanism is good,3 mascaras in one. With that in mind I will continue using it but with a disposable mascara wand instead.

NOTE Cosmetics are relatively new to Ireland and I stumbled upon the stand when picking up a few holiday essentials in my local pharmacy and decided that I would try out one of their foundations. At €9.95 for 35ml I was curious to see how it would stand up. 


The packaging is minimal Black and silver and sleek, so good so far. 

I have dry/combination skin, prone to hormonal breakouts so this was going to be a challenge.

It protects and balances your skin tone with a natural coverage that lasts all day long. It highly moisturizes your skin thanks to Sweet Almond Oil with antioxidant features and Macadamia Oil that contains essential acids.

Great!!! Excellent value for a “Drug store” foundation. The packaging (Tube) is so travel/make up bag friendly and the foundation itself: 
I applied as usual with my fingers and it’s creamy consistency was so easy to blend, it evened out my complexion and gave me a flawless finish. It lasted the whole day even on busy running around like crazy days and for €9.95 I’ll be stocking up. I chose the Colour 07 Apricot as I had applied false tan and it was a good match. As an affordable foundation it’s a good addition to your make up bag. And as it has an SPF15 it saves time too.

Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation Review

I picked up these foundations having heard good things so decided I’d try it out myself.


I chose No.53 & No.54 as I wasn’t sure which one was best as I was tanned at the time of purchasing them. At the time Boots had a special offer two for €13 which was a lovely surprise when I was paying at the till. 

This anti-Fatigue foundation claims to instantly erase signs of fatigue for a flawless finish giving a fresh and healthy looking complexion lasting up to 16 hours with the aid of Vitamins C,E and B5.


My Verdict:

I have been using this for 2 weeks and have found its good on my dry skin as it didn’t cling to dry areas but coverage was not sufficient so I used some of my trusty concealer to conceal under my eyes and on any blemishes. 

The No.54 colour was perfect when I was wearing my false tan and it blends really easily. I apply my foundation with my hands and always set my foundation with powder to set it and get the whole day from it as I don’t have time to touch up my foundation. 

Overall I was happy with this foundation and would recommend it as a cheaper alternative to high end brands especially good for budget and great if you prefer to keep your more expensive cosmetics for the weekend. 

Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation RRP €13.99 but Boots have their 3 for 2 on Bourjois products at the moment.

This solid brush cleaner came to me before Christmas and I finally remembered to use it today to clean some of my brushes I used yesterday. 

I was dubious about it to be honest but to be fair I was really impressed. 


A lot of my brushes are white, goat hair , duo and white synthetic microfibre and I used to have to wash them several times to get them white again, not anymore as this solid brush cleaner had them sparkling after one or two goes depending on products used, oil based etc.

New moisture treatment is suitable for use twice daily, even for sensitive skin


Kiehl’s Since 1851 introduces Clearly CorrectiveTM Brightening and Smoothing Moisture Treatment – an ultra-lightweight, innovative hydrator featuring dermatologist-trusted Glycolic Acid in concert with the company’s signature skin clarity ingredient, Activated C (a high-performance Vitamin C derivative). 
 In 2011, utilizing Activated C, Kiehl’s chemists first established leadership in skin clarity with the launch of Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution (CCDS). To date, this formula is one of the most trusted serums for skin clarity, winning 19 global beauty awards and selling over 4 million bottles worldwide. 

 14 months ago, Kiehl’s chemists began formulating a new type of hydrator—an innovative moisture-treatment—to target 3 key causes of loss of clarity: rough texture, dehydration, and discoloration. 

 “CCDS remains one of the most effective targeted treatments for clarity on the market, but treatment serums are only one component of a complete skincare regimen,” shares Helen Sung, AVP Kiehl’s Product Innovation. “We asked ourselves, how could we address the key causes of loss of clarity?  While highly effective, Glycolic Acid can be irritating and dehydrating to skin. “Widely used as an agent in peels, it is a less popular ingredient in hydrators,” explains Dr. Adam Geyer, Kiehl’s Consulting Dermatologist. “When used in moisturizers, many formulate with glycolic acid at such a high level that it requires very specific usage and rarely allows for the moisturizer to be easily incorporated into a standard skincare regimen. And these formulas are generally unsuitable for those with sensitive skin.”  

 Always focused on the needs of even its most sensitive skincare customers, Kiehl’s chemists utilized precise concentrations of the ingredient to retain its exfoliation benefits, while remaining tolerable and appropriate for sensitive skin types.

 “We intentionally used a lower level of Glycolic Acid in our formula to help soften surface skin rather than to aggressively peel it. This complements the Activated C in the formula by helping skin to be more receptive to the skin clarifying ingredients,” stated Dr. Geoff Genesky, Kiehl’s Head Chemist. “Within the formula, we also offer moisturizing benefits by tapping into the nourishing and protecting properties of Peony and White Birch. This careful balance is our true formulation achievement. This moisture treatment not only offers 24 hour hydration to balance the keratolytic properties of glycolic acid, but our formula is so tolerable that it can be used twice a day or even applied with a thicker layer as an overnight masque.”

 Actively brightening, smoothing, and refining skin for a smoother texture, Clearly CorrectiveTM Brightening and Smoothing Moisture Treatment is clinically demonstrated to target the key factors of loss of clarity. INGREDIENTS & HOW THE FORMULA WORKS

2. White Birch & Peony address dehydration: As skin ages, moisture binding molecules within skin begin to deplete. Essential moisture escapes through the skin’s surface, which contributes to dull, tired looking skin, coarse texture, and more visible fine lines and wrinkles. To address this, White Birch Extract and a blend of moisture-binding humectants in the formula draw moisture from the air to help offer 24 hour hydration in the skin’s layers. Peony Extract helps neutralize free radicals, helping to maintain skin health so that it more readily receives and maintains moisture.

3. Activated C decreases discoloration: With age, skin is exposed to environmental aggressors, leading to oxidation and resulting in discoloration on the skin’s surface. In the formula, Activated C, a completely stable, fast-acting Vitamin C molecule, helps brighten skin while helping to reduce the appearance of new spots and discolorations.1

Review: Microneedling my honest take on it

I’ve been meaning to write this review for some time now and haven’t gotten around to it until now. 

Here’s some questions I have been asked by friends and family when they saw I had it done and my honest answers! 

 Did it hurt? 

I actually enjoyed the sensation and as I had numbing cream applied all over my face and neck it didn’t hurt at all, I could feel the needle around my lip area but not in a painful or uncomfortable way. I knew it was doing good for my skin, so I got a kick out of it.

What was your skin like afterwards?

Red! It was like I was sunburnt, which I never normally experience as I have skin that tans in the sun so this was new to me. I had sunglasses with me so I popped them on. I wasn’t embarrassed, I went into the pavilions straight afterwards and got a gorgeous pair of boots. 


Can you wear make up after treatment?

Ciara applied SPF50 after my treatment to give my skin a barrier from the elements and protect from sun damage. It’s advised you don’t wear make up for 24 hours to get the full benefit and let your skin heal. I have used the SPF every day afterwards.


What was your skin like the next day? 

The following morning the redness had reduced significantly and I was delighted to apply my make up and feel like myself again. My skin did feel noticeably firmer and plumped, my frown lines were noticeably reduced and my skin on my neck was still a bit red and sensitive so I made sure to apply more SPF there.


Was your skin dry afterwards?

Around day 3 post microneedling my skin did flake and peel so I made up my favourite scrub of sugar, lemon and honey and gave my skin a drenching with serum and moisturiser afterwards every night until it calmed down. 

Would you recommend it? 

Definitely yes if you want to reduce lines and wrinkles, improve circulation, boost your collagen in your skin, help with break outs, acne scars and open pores.

How much does it cost? 

€95 per session which lasts 1 hour although some times there is a deal of€250 for three sessions!

Grace Mongey, Make up artist and blogger and most recently became a Mummy to baby Sienna Harper, such a gr8 role model for young mums as she is very honest and up front about her life. Stephanie O’Quigley – I love Stephanie’s attitude to life, her healthy life and her incredible body transformation. I was sitting beside Stephanie at the Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge launch and she was so lovely! I can’t wait to follow her journey as she is moving to New York this week! Kate Hudson- This girl cracks me up! Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge new lipsticks and packaging Launch

Yesterday afternoon I attended the launch at The Wilde, a beautiful building on Merrion Square, Dublin 2. Surrounded by beautiful fellow artists and beauty bloggers for the launch of L’Absolu Rouge and as always the elegance and hosts were just gorgeous. 

The gorgeous Róisín Tierney Crowe introduced Lorraine Byrne the beautiful Lancôme Make Up Artist and training executive to us and Lorraine gave an in depth brief on the creation of Lancôme’s new lipstick offerings some of which have been created by the Fabulous Lisa Eldridge ( one of my favourite artists and you tubers)


I managed to get some of the samples and will be trying them on clients and myself too! 

The packaging is decadent and pretty elegant, gorgeous for gifting this Christmas and they retail at €31 and are available nationwide. 

We also were privy to a sneak peek at the Christmas collection which is gorgeously packaged in Gold casings and anyone lucky to have this collection should flaunt it every time they touch up their make up, it’s that gorgeous! 


The eyeshadow palette drew me in completely, the shades are so festive and completely wearable and designed by Lisa Eldridge herself, just stunning! Palette is €51 from Brown Thomas.

Strawberry, Pink Grapefruit and Coconut sound good? They smell even better than you can imagine and I’ve been enjoying these latest treats from Penneys ever since I got them in the post. 

My daughter Zara-Zöe just loves the Strawberry shower gel, especially after swimming and has been loving using the body scrub on her little knees. The hand cream is gorgeous too, and it doesn’t leave your hands too greasy afterwards which is a pet hate of mine, so I can get on with things. 

I’m loving the Coconut products too much, the scrub is perfect for gently removing any unwanted remnants of fake tan and it effectively removes and softens any dry/dead skin, leaving your skin nice and soft. The body spray is gorgeous and the fresh scent of coconut gives you a holiday lift in this dreary grey weather we have at the moment. It dries quickly so is perfect after the shower before dressing.

I gave my Mum the Pink Grapefruit products to try and she is loving them, she’s particularly loving the scent and the hand cream is perfect for her as it’s not too overwhelming. 

The PS Love Rose perfume is so light and hints of floral and citrus make it perfect for daytime.

The PS Love Noir Perfume is a heavier scent with accents of musk and is a gorgeous perfume for evening.

Pestle and Mortar Pure Hyaluronic Serum review

This beautiful package arrived a few months ago and I am now ready to write up an honest informative review. To be honest I didn’t know what to expect from a Hyaluronic serum but after cleansing each night before bed I applied 2 drops under my moisturiser and again in the morning. 

My skin started to show a difference after about a week. It seemed plumper and less dehydrated looking. It was the softness of my skins texture that made me most impressed and this encouraged me to keep using it. 


I usually hate the feeling of anything oily or sticky on my face at night time as my hair tends to stick to it or it feels awful against my pillow, so this was the first product I actually wanted to apply it before bed.

The other major plus point for me is the fact I can apply this before make up and it doesn’t interfere with my foundation or staying power. 

I still have quite a lot left and will definitely replenish it when it’s finished as it has become part of my beauty routine and I LOVE IT! 

I did also get a few samples of the Hydrate moisturiser and squeezed enough for a few days worth out of it. It seemed to almost refresh my dehydrated skin on first impression but I would liked to have tried more to give a proper review.

A couple of months ago the beautiful people from Sass & Boho sent me a beautiful candle called “Sweet Tart” and I could smell the candle even before I opened the packaging. 

The scent of the candle is Rhubarb & Damson Plum, so warm,lighly sweet and comforting and anyone who came into the house when I was burning it, commented on how gorgeous the house smelt. 

I’ve been saving it for when we have guests or if I’ve had a long day and I need to feel homely and snugly I’ll light the candle. It does definitely burn slower than most other candles I’ve had including Yankee and Jo Malone and I’m getting near the end of it now and that saddens me. 

Maybe Santa will bring me one for Christmas or maybe I’ll get one for my birthday.

How to fix broken Eyeshadows/ bronzers/powders

It’s horrible when it happens to your favourite Eyeshadows/ bronzes/powders so let me show you how I fix mine! Unfortunately this gorgeous powder from The Balm arrived broken and I was so upset I put it aside until today and I decided to fix it using an old hack. 


Step 1 

What you will need:

some cling film or sandwich bag, a tea spoon or butter knife and some surgical spirits/rubbing alcohol.
